Getting started
Lemika is a desktop app that uses AI to write titles, descriptions and keywords for your stock files and embeds them straight into each file.
An account is only needed for AI generation – it keeps track of your plan and your generations. The manual EXIF editor works with no account at all.
Yes – Lemika gives you 20 free generations once you confirm your email, no card required. And the manual EXIF editor stays free forever, with no account at all.
The free trial is 20 AI generations after sign-up. The free editor lets you fill in titles, descriptions and keywords by hand – Lemika writes them into the file (EXIF / IPTC / XMP) – no AI, no account, forever.
macOS (Apple Silicon and Intel) and Windows.
JPEG, PNG, SVG, MP4 and MOV – photos, vectors and video.
Pick a folder of files – that's the first step. Keep the default settings or adjust them, then press Describe, and Lemika writes a title, description and keywords into each file.
AI generation needs an internet connection. Manual EXIF editing works fully offline.
Yes – you fill in the title, description and keywords by hand and Lemika writes them into the file (EXIF / IPTC / XMP). No account, no internet, free forever.
Generating keywords
A title, a description and keywords – written straight into the file. For platforms that use categories – like Adobe Stock, Shutterstock and Dreamstime – Lemika also picks the matching one, included in the CSV export.
Straight into the file's own metadata, as EXIF / IPTC / XMP – the file carries them wherever it goes.
Yes – every title, description and keyword Lemika writes is yours to adjust to your own wording afterwards.
Yes – your edits are saved into the file's metadata just like the generated text.
Use the sliders for title length, description length and keyword count, or keep the defaults.
Type it into the clarification field – for example, the name of a newly released product the AI may not recognise yet, or a niche subject it might not identify from the image alone. Set it before you press Describe and it's used straight away; add it afterwards and just regenerate the file.
As many as you set on the slider – up to 50.
Editorial mode lets you add where and when the file was shot – date, country and city – and writes it into the file in the format stocks expect for editorial.
Yes – SVG vectors are supported alongside photos and video.
No – metadata is written in without re-encoding, so your pixels stay untouched and there's no quality loss.
Running the AI on the same file again – for example, after changing the clarification or settings to get different wording. Each regeneration counts as one more generation. Editing the text by hand is always free – whether you've run the AI on the file or not.
Yes – Lemika processes all supported types in the same folder.
Up to 1,000 files per folder.
Metadata is generated in English only – it's the language major stock platforms expect for search and discovery.
A small text field where you can tell the AI things it can't know on its own – the exact product name in a shot, a recent release, a local landmark, a specific breed or model. Lemika uses it when it describes those files.
Exports & platforms
No – after describing, the metadata is already in your files. A CSV is an optional one-click export for platforms that need it.
CSV exports are shaped around the published guidelines of the major platforms – Shutterstock, Adobe Stock, Getty Images, iStock, Pond5, Dreamstime, Depositphotos, 123RF, Pixta, Vecteezy, Magnific (formerly Freepik) and Microstock.
No – Lemika only writes the metadata. You upload to the stock yourself, so your stock accounts stay entirely in your hands.
For most uploads the embedded metadata is enough, but some platforms don't read metadata from video files – Shutterstock and Depositphotos among them – so a CSV covers those.
For Pixta, video uploads need a CSV in Pixta's own format (photos don't). For the Pixta matcher to build it, the files must be in Lemika's local database – either described in Lemika, or, if they were attributed elsewhere, opened in Lemika at least once.
Plans & billing
Unused generations roll over while your subscription stays active.
Yes – you can upgrade anytime. Your generation balance is set to the new plan's monthly volume, and you only pay the price difference for the remaining days of the cycle. To switch to a smaller plan, cancel the current one and start the new one when the cycle ends.
Yes – you can cancel anytime. Your plan stays active until the end of the current billing period, and any unused generations stay available until then.
One-time packs are valid for 12 months and stack on any plan.
The metadata already written into your files stays there, and you can still export CSVs from what's already generated. You just can't generate new metadata until you renew.
Yes – add your business name and VAT number in billing details, and your invoices will include them.
Privacy & your files
No – Lemika never uses your files to train AI.
Only a compressed preview of each file is sent for processing – about 1280 pixels on the long edge. Your originals never leave your device and are never stored.
Troubleshooting
Lemika reads only the files directly in the folder you select, not inside subfolders. Keep what you want processed in that folder, or select each subfolder separately.
No – failed files aren't charged, and the generation goes back to your balance.
AI generation needs a connection, so check your internet and try again.
Make sure you exported the CSV for the platform you're uploading to – each one has its own column layout.
In the folder you selected for the export.
Check your spam folder and request the email again – the 20 generations land once your email is confirmed.
Request the magic link again, or reset your password.
Renewals top up your balance right away. If it still looks off, reopen the app or contact support.
Yes – your account and history aren't tied to a platform, so they're shared across both.
Lemika checks for updates automatically. You can also check manually from the app menu. When one's ready, confirm it in the app – no reinstall needed.
Re-download the file from the site and make sure it finished downloading. If it still won't open, contact support.
Allow it to run – in the Windows prompt, choose More info, then Run anyway. This is Windows being cautious with new apps it hasn't seen many times yet – not a sign that anything is wrong with the installer.
Contact support and attach the latest log file so we can look into it. On macOS the logs are in ~/.config/Lemika/logs – this folder is hidden by default, so the easiest way to open it is in Finder via Go → Go to Folder (⇧⌘G) and paste ~/.config/Lemika/logs. On Windows the logs are in %APPDATA%\Lemika\logs – the easiest way to open it is to paste %APPDATA%\Lemika\logs into the address bar at the top of any File Explorer window. Grab the newest app-*.log file there.
